Late Nights
"Late Nights" is a song produced by Caden Peschel, delving into the struggles of addiction and the never-ending battle of trying to break free, only to keep falling back into the same destructive cycle. The song carries a deep emotional weight, portraying the internal conflict and frustration that comes with wanting to change but feeling trapped in a pattern that seems impossible to escape.
When Caden approached me to design the CD cover, we had several discussions about how to visually represent the song’s meaning. We explored various ideas, searching for an image that could encapsulate the feeling of entrapment, struggle, and longing for freedom. After brainstorming, we decided on the concept of a closed double door with a lock on it—symbolizing the desire to move forward but being held back by something unseen. The locked doors represent both a physical and metaphorical barrier, mirroring the cycle described in the song.
With this concept in mind, I began designing. We wanted to keep the visuals simple yet impactful, so we opted for a black-and-white color scheme to reflect the raw and heavy nature of the song’s themes. The contrast of black and white helped emphasize the stark reality of addiction—the battle between light and darkness, hope and despair. Through careful composition and design elements, I aimed to create a cover that not only complements the song but also evokes emotion in the viewer before they even press play.
This project was an exciting and meaningful experience, as it allowed me to bring a visual representation to a song that carries such a powerful message. Seeing it all come together, from concept to final design, was incredibly rewarding.
